Ross Interview Done

Back home now after the interview. It was with an alumnus, at his office. It lasted for an hour.

The interview started with a resume walk-through and had loads of questions on team activities, setbacks and my subsequent take-aways. I, actually, got a chance to tell him about every major achievement and his responses/acknowledgments sounded positive. Then, there were the usual why MBA, why Ross, goals while at Ross questions. I think I handled them pretty well. He then asked me about the other schools that I have applied to and wondered why I had limited my choices to only three schools. I told him why I thought that I best fit my target schools. I think I managed to convince him that I am an individual who is very focussed at all times.

Overall, I felt it was a good interview but I could have done better. I have a terrible cold and was trying my best not to cough during the interview. That made me pause a couple of times. Thankfully they weren't long ones. There were also a few "you know"s that I could have avoided.
So begins the wait for the results. Decisions will be mailed on January 15th. Lets hope I hear from Darden and Stanford before that.

Hey Ashwanth,

All the best for the results, you have a good month to go till then. Was the alum one you already met at their fair in Hyd? If it were, hopefully he remembers you and sends even more positive feedback! :)

Good Luck!

Thanks for the wishes!

Yeah...I had met my interviewer at the Ross event. He remembered me. I sure do hope he has lot of positives to write in his feedback :-)

Good luck with your apps! When will u hear from Cornell?

Good luck, da. Now go and crack in tomorrow's match against ITW, I'm not going to be there so you'll have to find someone to have a partnership :-D

Dude Vicky...We have already been awarded the match. ITW is unable to play tomorrow.

This means we are thru to the semi-finals :-)

ha ha that's hilarious, so we're officially into our third successive Amcham Semi Finals ? So, now that we're into Semis, I think I'll come for that one.

Hey.. That sounds like a good interview..
And don't worry about pauses, "you know"s and all.. These r all minor things in the big picture of ur goals,ur achievements and the "fit".

Gud luck!!

Thanks, Shobit. That was reassuring. I am hoping for the best.

By the way, Sara Neher has mentioned in her recent video blog that Darden interview invites to international applicants will start going out on Monday. ATB (to both of us :))!

Ashwanth,

Dunno about Cornell, they shall start sending out invites only mid-to-end of this month probably.

Hey I have a question about the Stanford application. How did you enter your transcript information there? Unlike ISB, I am unable to upload more than 1 page. It takes just 1 page, but my trasncript has more pages. Did you use the self-reported transcript?

Thanks

Use a pdf merger to merge the different pages so that your transcript is just one pdf file. I did it.

You may wanna try www.freepdfconvert.com. If I remember, the online tool accepts multiple pdf files as a single zip file and combines them. As an alternative, you can download and install Software995. Thats also a cool pdf tool.

HTH and ATB!

Ashwanth,

First, congrats on the interview. Sounds like you had a good one if you spoke for an entire hour! I'm sure that you were prepared for everything he asked you and answered well.

Sorry to hear that you have a cold. I'm sure it won't hurt how your interviewer thought of you. We all are ill at some point!

Best of luck as you wait to hear from Darden!

Hey Matt,

I was prepared for most questions, except one. I took a minute or so to think of a situation from my past that, I thought, fit as an answer. Otherwise, it was pretty straightforward with me answering questions about my experiences at the work place, with community services, with cricket teams, visits to Africa et al. I liked the interview.

Thanks for your wishes! I hope to hear from Darden in the next couple of weeks. I am attending their event at Bangalore next week.

Best

You definitely have some great past experiences to draw from! Not everyone has captained a cricket team...

Glad you liked the interview. I look forward to reading about the Darden event.
